INVITES YOU TO STAND WITH US ON MORAL POSITIONS
LOTTERY POSITION: Gambling, or a form of it, the Lottery, are poor use of assets and violate basic stewardship principles. Violators suffer because of it. See Matthew 25:28-30. Gen 3: 19, "In the sweat of thy brow shalt thou eat bread." Each person is to "bear his own burden," Gal 6:5, to "eat his own bread," 2 Thes 3:12, and "to work with his own hands," 1 Thes 4:11. We are warned to "take heed and beware covetousness," Luke 12:15. Gambling violates these Biblical principles, resulting in the personal destruction of many as well as the corruption of our society. The lottery, violates the commandment, "Thou shalt not covet." Those who are snared by their greed will have their wealth taken from them. The fruits of the lottery include devastated family budgets, marriage conflicts, divorce, poverty, hungry children, as well as the corruption of society and politicians. Gambling addicts need to be protected from having their wealth taken from them and their families left in great distress. Our forefathers wanted to protect families and the poor, so they permanently banned the lottery and gambling in the Tennessee Constitution. The church provides information on the lottery to make the simple beware and so that those who will listen will avoid destruction.

AGAINST GAMBLING, or a form of it, the Lottery, are poor use of assets and violate basic stewardship principles. Each person is to "Bear his own burden," Gal 6:5, to "eat his own bread", 2 Thes 3:12, and to "work with his own hands." 1 Thes 4:11. We are warned "to take heed of covetousness." Luke 12:15. Gambling violates these Biblical principles, resulting in personal destruction and poverty of many as well as the corruption of politicians and our society. Referendums on the legalization of drugs, prostitution, or anything else that is evil, such as Gambling or the Lottery, are not necessary. Legalizing the lottery and gambling would create an anti-Christian culuture.

* The LOTTERY and Gambling violate "Thou Shalt Not Covet."
* Greed causes the foolish spending for lottery tickets instead of buying basic family needs of food, housing.
* The lottery purchases takes money away from sales taxes dedicated for education.
* The lottery takes away from money spent on goods and services and therefore, the lottery subtracts jobs from the manufacturing economy.
* Our forefathers banned gambling and the lottery in the Tennessee Constitution because these policies have failed in the
past by corrupting our politicians and society. Let's respect the wisdom of our forefathers. The Bible is clearly against gambling.
